First Words

This weekend, Skylar began saying "Dadadada". On Monday, he started saying "Daddy" and "Mmmmammmmama". He really struggled to get out the first "mmm". Tuesday he said "Mommy" pretty clearly.

Why "Big Daddy D?"

Some of you may be wondering, "Why call yourself Big Daddy D?" Before Skylar was born, I had gained so much weight that I had to move up to double and triple XL t-shirts. There is a big size brand called "Big Daddy". I bought a few of their t-shirts and wore them quite frequently. One of these shirts had on it "Big Daddy Cigar Company". I wore this one the day Skylar was born. So, when I started the blog and had to pick a name, this one popped into my head. The "D" was added to distinguish me from the thousands of other Big Daddy's out there. Yet there appears to still be hundreds with the "D".

First sign

When Sky was first born, we bought a book on baby sign language. Brandi and I have not been good about learning and using the signs. About the only signs we ever use with Sky are "Mom" and "Dad". This morning, Sky clearly was signing "Dad". Brandi seemed a bit jealous. So, hopefully his first real word will be "Mommy".

Skylar goes to Kansas

Over Thanksgiving break, we took Skylar to visit relatives in Kansas City and Wichita. These pictures are of our roadtrip. Family photos will follow in tomorrow's post.
